Call For Abstracts

The Conference Steering Committee has identified the following 10 technical headings and specifically seeks abstracts relating to these headings:

  • Road surface standards and specifications and developments in predicting the in-service performance of materials
  • Achieving positive road safety outcomes, including integrating skid resistance management into the Safe Systems approach
  • Developments in Binders, Aggregates, Surfacings and Line Markings
  • Latest Issues in Measurement, Data Processing, Data Analysis, Seasonal Variation
  • The Tyre-Road Interface, Tyre Technology, Hydroplaning
  • Crash Case Studies – legal implications, costs to society, investigation techniques
  • Setting Meaningful Objectives / Targets, Measuring Outcomes and Returns, and Actively Selling
  • Identifying and Meeting Friction Demand at Individual Locations, inc. Success or Otherwise of Remedial Measures
  • Road Authority / Police Partnerships – Getting More From Working Together - Engineering and Enforcement hand in hand
  • Skid Resistance and Asset Management – Models for, and examples of successful partnerships working

In addition to satisfying the above technical headings, papers that specifically focus upon co-operation and partnerships will be looked upon extremely favourably given the objectives of the conference. To that end, papers submitted by joint authors are encouraged where the authors are in different sections or divisions within a road authority or across kindred organisations.

Abstracts should be no longer than 200 words.

Final papers will be required in advance of the conference and will be published as part of the conference proceedings.

Authors are able to submit multiple abstracts, either in their own right or as a co-author.

Abstracts should not blatantly promote commercially advertised products and abstracts must not have been published in the same form elsewhere.

To ensure a consistently high standard, all papers will be subject to peer review and successful authors formally invited to present.
