The Dental Hygienist Association of Australia Inc (Vic Branch) seeks to empower dental hygienists to develop, promote and deliver quality dental hygiene services to the community through leadership, education, advocacy and mutual support. Working with our National Branch we undertake continuing development of our profession in Australia
Melbourne University offered the first Dental Hygiene training course in 1997 in Victoria. Recently La Trobe University has developed a Bachelor of Oral Health program in Bendigo which is strongly supported by our association.
We were the first state to receive Legislative reform in 2002, which paved the way for Hygienists to utilize more of their skills to enable a broader range of the public access to preventive dentistry. We are actively involved in further reviews.
