"Partners in Prevention, Professionalism and Planning" will focus on promoting a professional relationship between Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists in an educational setting based on cooperation and collaboration to promote improved oral health for our patients.
The conference compromises a plenary program inclusive of short paper sessions and workshops whereby members of the professional dental community will present aspects of their expertise, current practice and research findings on topics relating to all members of the oral health care team, and in particular both Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists alike.
This is an inaugural event being conducted by the Dental Hygienists Association-Victorian Branch and the Victorian Dental Therapists Association. The target audience is Dental Professionals from the public and private sectors, industry representatives, students of oral health along with our own professional association members.
Approximately 175 delegates are expected to attend.

Dr Melinda Newnham - Periodontist and Lecturer at the University of Melbourne and the Asia Pacific Institute of Dental Education and Research presenting "Update on young patients and periodontal management: what you need to know".
Dr Julie Satur - Senior Lecturer, School of Dental Science, Melbourne University, will present "Making our health education more effective"
Dr Linda Steinberg - Forensic Dentist speaking on the importance of accurate record keeping in light of Boxing Day Tsunami
Dr Richard Bassed - Consultant Forensic Odontologist and part-time lecturer for Melbourne and Monash Universities and Victorian Police presenting "Oral manifestations of child abuse".
Dr Mark Page - Officer in Command of the ADF Dental School and lecturer for La Trobe University speaking on the dilemma of oral piercings in "Pierced Off - The Truth about Oral Piercings..
Dr Nick Cusack - Private Dentist and Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve presenting his current research in a presentation entitled "A review of the salivary, plaque and lifestyle factors effecting oral health in a Defence population."
Ms Pam Leong - Lecturer at the University of Melbourne and private practitioner in both dental hygiene and therapy will present Updates on the Code of Practice in Victoria today.
Ms Catherine Carboon - Professional Educator for Colgate and dental hygienist will workshop the Colgate Professional Education Fluoride Module
Dr Andrew Neil -Department of Human Services Victoria presenting an update on Water Fluoridation in Victoria
